bestiarium

Art never repeats itself. The same work does not say the same thing through the years, neither in different places, nor for each person, nor for the same person across time.
That is the reason man says that masterpieces are open, because its message is seen as lacking frontiers and leading to multiple interpretations.
Some figures are forgotten by people and remembered again later, others are tied to a time and place, and there are special ones that cross cultural borders. One of the most diffused figures across space and time is that of the weird animal, fruit of the playing of the imagination, observation of Nature, fear of the unknown and the effort to stave it off. These weird creatures have been shaped in ritual objects, in religious buildings or in the walls of caves. Although we do not yet understand them in the same way as the people who painted or engraved them, there are still plenty of suggestions.
